[ichild] Re: Color consciousness

We have a fairly large Indian population where I live right outside of Denver. There is a park that I frequent with my boys that is very close to our library. I would say that 99% of the time when we go to either this park or the library we always run into an Indian family. The thing that I always notice now that I think about it is that the kids are usually dressed in long sleeves and long pants...even in the middle of the HOT summer (the moms are often dressed in traditional Indian saris or a salwar kameez.) Could this be to protect the children's skin from the effects of the sun? I wonder? I am not kidding when I say I have gotten a few strange looks as I lather my kids with sunscreen and allow them to run through the stream or the fountains in just their swimming trunks.
